Fausto Salvi was born in Brescia in 1965, and he studied at the Scuola d’Arte del Garda art school, in Gargnano. He discovered ceramics in the 1980s, when he attended courses at the Istituto Statale d’Arte della Ceramica (School of Ceramic Arts), Faenza. Alongside his studies, he also embarked on intense activity as an artist, and took part in residencies in Europe, the United States, Korea and India. Later he opened his own studio, first in Faenza, and then in Buenos Aires, Brescia, Milan, and Brescia, where he now lives. Travel and experiencing new situations are the motivation and fuel for his art. This is why he is constantly searching for locations where he can work in contact with artists or students of different cultures. In this way he enriches his own cultural heritage with new languages, though never becoming weighed down by them. His work is above all a form of denouncement, and in this form of criticism, he often adds different materials to his preferred means of expression, ceramics. Describing himself, Salvi says, “I am ready to leave, nearly always”.
